Samuel James

This past weekend, my sister and her husband lost their little one at 20 weeks of pregnancy. What do you say when the sorrows and griefs of life are so unexpected? When excitement and joy turn to disappointment and sadness? I'm thankful we have a Shepherd who understands heartache. I'm thankful that Jesus did not keep the world at a distance, but came down to this lost and hurting place. And when trials come, we can rest in the arms of Jesus--the same strong arms that He hung on from the cross. The arms that are able to scoop up little lambs like Samuel and hold them tight.

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
He leads me beside quiet waters,
He restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me
In the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup overflows.
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
