A "Dr. Pepper" Toast

Today marks five years since I lost my friend Zach Evans in a car accident. He was a notorious fan of what he affectionately called "Dr. P", so here's an imaginary toast to a buddy who left us too soon. If you knew Zach, share a memory in the comments...

I can't believe it's been five years... He always used to call me Scruff McGruff. He never made anyone ever feel left out. He was a friend to everyone.

I remember the last time he shared at youth group and he shared about contentment. He brought out the quote from a song, "It's not having what you want, it's wanting what you've got." He was always encouraging others.

I remember in the detassling field, about a month before he died. I asked him if he had any regrets in life, and he said he really didn't because any mistakes he's made he has learned from and he wouldn't be who he was today without everything that had happened in his life.

He is missed greatly by many and has left a print on many lives that will never be forgotten.

Here's to Zach and the passion he had for the things that matter most in life. He made much of Christ in the short time he was here. May his example inspire us to do the same.

Zach is truly missed by all who knew him.
Something that I really loved about Zach is that when he talked to you, he showed interest and respect.
He was such a wonderful guy and friend.

I now realize that the other night (we were at camp) when the Evans' randomly entered my thoughts and prayers, it was the anniversary of his death. That was the Lord.

Here's to Zach, who's life was a joy and his death has brought so many to think on eternal things and a give God glory.

Zach was such a joy. God's gifts into our lives, however long or short, echo into eternity. Zach is one of those gifts.

Great comments everyone! When I think of Zach I remember that infectious laugh. Even when you weren't sure what it was about, his laugh had a way of making you laugh too.

God providentially, out of the blue, paired me at work today with Sarah Ellis. When we met and she found out who I was, one ofthe first people she asked if I had known was Zach!

I gave her this blogsite. Hopefully she'll stop by!

How many guys would have such a good attitude upon getting out of bed in the morning and stepping into an inch of water covering your bedroom flood - that's an example of Zach's fantastic attitude. We look forward to the reunion in heaven.
